Dear Swara,
You are too small to read the letter but still I am writing this to you on the occasion of my graduation moment. When you grow, start to read and understand, I guess you will cherish this. This is a THANK YOU letter for you as though you are small, you understood that Mummy is studying and you used to demand less time from me rather you used to offer your pencils for completing my assignments/exams. You used to always say ‘why do you have to work so much and study?’ and I am going to give that answer here, learning and gaining more experience is always a self-realization process for me. So I will say everyone needs to keep on learning throughout their life. (this may sound too much at this age for you….)
I also wanted to say SORRY to you as I could not attend your first birthday and could not see your first foot-steps as I was busy attending the project workshop in Chicago. Later when we came here in Chicago you were too small and during the long travel you were sick. When we came to Axis home, due to extreme cold and tiredness you were numb and I was shocked to see you in that state. But that very moment too I was very confident that you are my strong daughter who will be able to fight and survive in this weather. And you proved that to be correct.
When we were thinking to have a second baby we asked Sana what she would like to have as her sibling and she said that she would like to have a baby sister and we were very happy to have you as our little princess. When you were small you used to be little cranky and I used to be worried whether you will be like that forever? But when you started to talk I realize that you are a tiny smart girl who behaves as if she is on the advisory board of the family J
As we were settling down in new city we could not celebrate your birthdays with a bash but we always made sure that you have lot of fun on your birthday. It used to bother me when we shifted here, that you were small and we did not have similar support back in India as we used to have at the time of Sana was growing up. But then I changed that thought process and started to look at all these things with different lens. Rather than thinking through that coming here, working, getting new experiences was because of me and your Daddy, I started to think that it is because it was in your and Sana’s destiny to be global kids. I felt much relaxed after this thought. Since I used to be super busy due to office, studies and household work despite daddy helps me a lot, you started behaving much mature day by day. The only demand you used to have was ‘Aai mala ghe’, ‘baba mala ghe’ or ‘mala ghe ghe kar’ which is so adorable and I am going fulfill that as much as I can now on.
You are very lucky to have Sana as your elder sister, I can tell from my own experience that having a big sister is extremely safe and secured feeling. So always share your thoughts, ideas, fun, tears with her. I do not want to sound boring to you but your baba and I always tried to be good parents for you and Sana and will teach you values than telling you what you should do or should not.
Once again THANK YOU for such a wonderful daughter!!! My Tinu, Chhoti Dayan, Chhabukadi and Lakshmi J
Love you loads,
Aai.
